The Liaisons Officer

As a product of sponsored education, I Jacintha Nabawanuka have always sought ways to pay it forward. I fully recognize that without opportunities provided by individuals like Mr. Serunjogi, I would not have attained an education, as my family could not afford it. I grew up performing on arts stages worldwide, raising funds for other vulnerable children like myself. Through these efforts, many girls and boys from vulnerable backgrounds gained access to education and grew into responsible adults who now contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Community Co-ordinator

My name is Fred Yiga mostly raised by my mother who because of poverty got married to my father at a young age of 13yrs, she was not able to attend any school because her parents where poor and their hope was for their daughter getting married for them to get bride price. Unfortunately, my dad became blind shortly after marrying my mum before I was born. My father was not able to support us, and as early as 4 years old, I started working with my mother, washing people’s clothes, fetching water, digging in people’s gardens to be able to find food, and school fees.
By God’s grace, in 1995 I completed primary school and in 1996 I started Secondary school at Kyambogo college school, with support only from my mum up to finishing Secondary school at which point I joined Makerere University to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Education in 2005. Throughout this journey I kept doing causal work in the community to get essentials and food for my family. Today am a qualified teacher of Biology and Chemistry.
I am the head of Science at St. Julian Schools and a National examiner at Uganda National Examination Board in the Biology Subject. Because of my background, I have always had a soft spot for the vulnerable students and therefore I volunteer as the community coordinator for the girls’ education fund at St. Julian schools for the past 5 years.
Meet the Founder

Growing up and working in impoverished communities has fueled my passion for helping vulnerable children, especially girls, achieve better lives. Despite over 50% of Uganda’s population attaining some level of education, uneducated young girls face limited prospects for a self-sustainable life without basic education. I firmly believe that educating a girl is the key to empowering an entire nation.
