Opata Nicholas Abel

Opata Nicholas Abel is a seasoned and dedicated educator specializing in Geography and History, with a teaching career that spans nearly two decades across Uganda and Zanzibar. Known for his passion for mentoring young people, he combines his extensive teaching expertise with strong administrative skills, making a significant impact both inside and outside the classroom. His journey in education reflects a commitment to inspiring students and supporting staff, creating an environment that fosters growth, discipline, and success.Born in 1981 at Mengo Hospital, Opata Nicholas Abel is of Japadhola heritage and hails from Tororo District. His educational journey began at St. Kizito Primary School, Bwaise, where he completed his Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) in 1995. He pursued his secondary education at Kisoko High School, Tororo, earning his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in 1999, and completed his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 2001 at St. Peter’s College, Tororo. Opata holds a Diploma in Education from Kyambogo University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Makerere University.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

At St. Julian, Opata oversees several critical departments, including Discipline, UCE UNEB Registration, Security, School Environment and Cleanliness, Utilities (Water and Electricity), School Uniform Status, Library, and Career Guidance. He also serves as the Patron for Prefects and the Chairperson of the St. Julian Staff Sacco, a savings initiative that provides financial support to staff members in need.

Opata is driven by a passion for education and a desire to make a positive influence in students’ lives. His work as a teacher allows him the freedom to be creative and address challenges, something he finds deeply rewarding. His commitment is evident in the pride he takes when meeting former students who have succeeded in various career fields – a testament to the lasting impact of his mentorship and guidance.
